We are sad to inform you that Bruce Thompson, our friend and Chair of Save Stockbridge, has died. Bruce had been ill for a number of months and we understand he died peacefully on Thursday night after spending his final weeks at the Western General Hospital, where had been admitted following a fall.
Bruce will be known to many for his steadfast opposition to matters affecting the local community which he regarded as unjust. His greatest triumph is perhaps his long running battle with Edinburgh City Council over statutory repairs which he finally won in 2016. Latterly, he spearheaded the campaign against the Accies Development with spirit, energy and determination. Regardless of what side of the debate you were on, you could not fail to be impressed by his dogged determination to fight what he believed to be wrong. Our community will be all the poorer without him.
We understand that in accordance with Bruce’s own wishes, there is to be no funeral or service.
He is survived by his partner Eddie and our thoughts and sympathies are with her and all who knew and loved Bruce.
